Alena is a compassionate and dedicated psychologist who works with children, teens, and adults face-to-face or via Telehealth. Having experience working at Autism SA, she has a particular passion for supporting autistic individuals and those struggling with emotional regulation, anxiety, attention, and learning. Committed to empowering her clients, she helps them recognise their strengths, develop effective strategies, and foster resilience and self-acceptance. In addition, she provides treatment and support to individuals experiencing depression, grief and loss, trauma and PTSD. She focuses on guiding her clients through these challenges and helping them build emotional strength.

She strives to create a warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental environment where clients feel safe and supported. Her therapeutic style is collaborative and client-centred, incorporating evidence-based approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. When working with neurodivergent individuals, she adopts a neuro-affirming approach that respects and celebrates their unique ways of thinking and experiencing the world.

In addition to therapy, she conducts psycho-educational, cognitive, intellectual disability and ADHD assessments for children and adults, providing valuable insights to help individuals better understand their unique cognitive and neurodivergent brain profiles. Understanding that the assessment process can feel daunting, she creates a supportive and relaxed environment to help clients perform at their best. Her goal is to provide meaningful insights that enhance self-understanding and guide future learning and personal development.

She holds an Honours degree in Psychology from the University of Adelaide and a Master of Professional Psychology from La Trobe University. Before transitioning into psychology, she had a fulfilling career in medical research, which deepened her curiosity about the brain and the intricate connection between the body and mind. She is interested in how nutrition, gut health, and lifestyle influence mental health. She takes a holistic approach, considering the whole person—mind and body—to promote lasting balance and well-being.
